Gate 60 in Human Design

You feel the limits of your situation very clearly, often almost physically. Yet within this frame a force also stirs that looks for new ways. Behind it stands the need to be able to shape things despite restrictions.

Gate 60 is connected with the theme of working with limits in Human Design.

When you fix your gaze only on the limitation, you feel trapped. Once you accept it as a frame, you often discover an unexpected freedom in it and can let something new arise with care.

The six lines

Line 1

If your conscious Sun is in Gate 60.1:

Your conscious Sun sits in Gate 60, the Gate of Limitation. You live with a narrowness that cannot be cleared away. Exactly there the new arises in you because the pressure looks for a way out. You want to know your limit from the ground up before you lean on it. A second-hand account rarely satisfies you, you go back yourself to the layer everything else rests on. Until that layer is clear, whatever stands on top of it feels borrowed to you. This is not caution, it is how you come to trust anything at all. The other side shows when the narrowness presses you down or when you tear yourself free by force. Changing one small thing inside the limit brings more than the breakout. Security comes to you from what you have understood, not from what you have been promised. What you once worked through to the bottom still holds when things around you get unsettled. That is where your calm comes from. When you accept your limit, you find a freedom inside it that does not depend on circumstances. Your impulse for daily life: Today you pick one place where your limit still rests on an assumption and follow it one layer deeper. Working slowly is no delay for you, it is how ground appears under your feet. In the evening you note in one sentence what you now actually understand. The rest can wait for another day.

Line 2

If your conscious Sun is in Gate 60.2:

Your conscious Sun sits in Gate 60, the Gate of Limitation. You live with a narrowness that cannot be cleared away. Exactly there the new arises in you because the pressure looks for a way out. Your limit comes to you without a run-up and without intention. You often notice only from the reactions of other people that something was unusual which felt entirely ordinary to you. Because it costs you so little, you tend to undervalue it. What comes easily is still worth something. In your case it is worth a great deal. The other side shows when the narrowness presses you down or when you tear yourself free by force. Changing one small thing inside the limit brings more than the breakout. In between you need time in which nobody wants anything from you. What others read into you rarely matches what you find in yourself. The gap between the two is where most of your tiredness comes from. When you accept your limit, you find a freedom inside it that does not depend on circumstances. Your impulse for daily life: Today you watch for when a call from outside actually means your limit and when it only carries what someone else expects of you. You let the first call wait an hour before you answer. A no to the wrong request keeps your energy free for the right one. Nobody is owed your immediate yes.

Line 3

If your conscious Sun is in Gate 60.3:

Your conscious Sun sits in Gate 60, the Gate of Limitation. You live with a narrowness that cannot be cleared away. Exactly there the new arises in you because the pressure looks for a way out. You find out nothing about your limit without having tried it. What convinces you on paper you would rather test early against the resistance of reality than late. Other people sometimes see disorder in this. What looks like detour from outside is the only road on which your kind of knowledge is made. The other side shows when the narrowness presses you down or when you tear yourself free by force. Changing one small thing inside the limit brings more than the breakout. Your path rarely runs straight. An attempt that does not work takes nothing from you, it cuts off a possibility you would otherwise have carried around for years. Every closed door narrows the field in a useful way. When you accept your limit, you find a freedom inside it that does not depend on circumstances. Your impulse for daily life: Today you run one small experiment with your limit whose outcome you do not know. Afterwards you look less at the result than at what you now know and did not know before. A small failure costs little. An untested assumption can cost you years.

Line 4

If your conscious Sun is in Gate 60.4:

Your conscious Sun sits in Gate 60, the Gate of Limitation. You live with a narrowness that cannot be cleared away. Exactly there the new arises in you because the pressure looks for a way out. Your limit works through the people who already know you. With strangers you need a run-up, inside a trusted circle the essential part almost falls into place by itself. A room full of unknown faces costs you more than an hour with three people who have known you for years. That is not shyness, it is where your ground lies. The other side shows when the narrowness presses you down or when you tear yourself free by force. Changing one small thing inside the limit brings more than the breakout. A circle that carries you grows out of reliability rather than numbers. You give first and receive later, often from a side you had not counted on. Keeping the circle in good repair is itself part of your work. When you accept your limit, you find a freedom inside it that does not depend on circumstances. Your impulse for daily life: Today you turn to one person in your circle and tell them what you are working on. You ask for no favour, you simply share your limit with someone you trust. An opening comes more often from that telling than from any effort made alone. Let the conversation be the point.

Line 5

If your conscious Sun is in Gate 60.5:

Your conscious Sun sits in Gate 60, the Gate of Limitation. You live with a narrowness that cannot be cleared away. Exactly there the new arises in you because the pressure looks for a way out. People expect a solution from you as soon as your limit becomes visible. Part of that expectation fits you exactly, another part belongs to a picture someone has put up in front of you. Telling the two apart is the work of your life. Nobody else can do it for you, because from outside the two look identical. The other side shows when the narrowness presses you down or when you tear yourself free by force. Changing one small thing inside the limit brings more than the breakout. Between rescuer and disappointment there is only one step for you. The difference is decided beforehand, in the moment you agree or let it pass. Saying less than you could is often the safer trade. When you accept your limit, you find a freedom inside it that does not depend on circumstances. Your impulse for daily life: Today you check one request to see whether it really means your limit or a picture somebody holds of you. You agree where you can deliver and you say openly where the expectation reaches beyond you. A clearly drawn line protects your standing better than any promise. Vagueness is what costs you later.

Line 6

If your conscious Sun is in Gate 60.6:

Your conscious Sun sits in Gate 60, the Gate of Limitation. You live with a narrowness that cannot be cleared away. Exactly there the new arises in you because the pressure looks for a way out. Your limit changes shape in you over the years. First comes a long stretch of experience, then a distance in which things sort themselves and finally a calm that others come to you for. Each stretch has its own kind of work. Treating one of them as though it were another is where most of the strain comes from. The other side shows when the narrowness presses you down or when you tear yourself free by force. Changing one small thing inside the limit brings more than the breakout. What you live counts for more with you than what you say. Your standing grows not from intent but from the fact that you walked through what you speak about. People sense the difference without being able to name it. When you accept your limit, you find a freedom inside it that does not depend on circumstances. Your impulse for daily life: Today you ask which stretch you are standing in and treat it accordingly. In the middle of experience you gather without drawing conclusions yet. At a distance you sort things out and where you have long since come through, you pass your limit on quietly. No stretch is wasted time.

Incarnation crosses with Gate 60 as Sun gate

Right Angle Cross of Laws

At the very top sits an acceptance of what will not work right now. You see the limit and look for the room inside it instead of running at the wall. Behind it a weaving of what you lived into stories, along with a guarding of what matters to a group and a sorting after the muddle. What comes of it is something new that grows inside the old form.

When somebody tells you that a thing is impossible, you ask what is possible instead. When you are given a tight brief, your work often turns out better than without it. And when you have no limit at all, everything takes longer and does not get better for it.

The right angle means this unfolds out of your own walk. The limit comes from outside, what you make within it comes from you. If none of this fits, it is the picture that is off and not you.

Juxtaposition Cross of Limitation

An acceptance of the limit. Add a telling out of what you lived, the question of what an effort is worth and an impulse to nourish. Out of that comes a tone that gets by on little. Tightness does not make you smaller, it makes you inventive and that surprises people who were about to pity you.

When you have little money, you make something of it that gets talked about later. When everything is open to you, you take longer than usual. And when somebody removes a limit you worked well inside, you draw yourself a new one.

Juxtaposition means this tone is fixed. Abundance does not change it. If you do not recognise yourself here, that says something about the picture and nothing about you.

Left Angle Cross of Distraction

An acceptance of the limit, a telling, a courage to commit and an impulse to nourish. Alone that would be a quiet sufficiency. Among people it becomes a turning off: you are sitting at one task, somebody walks in and the afternoon belongs to a completely different one.

When you plan three things for the day, the second one usually comes from somebody else. When you shut yourself off, the work goes fast and the day feels empty. And when you let people in, little is finished by the evening and a lot has happened.

The left angle means this theme comes about at other people. Alone the plan would stay a plan. If none of this fits, it is the picture that is off and not you.

And what does this mean for you?
