Gate 44 in Human Design

You have a fine memory for patterns in people and in the course of things. What repeats itself catches your attention and lets you sense what might come. Behind it lies the need to gain security from experience.

Gate 44 is connected with the theme of checking patterns in Human Design.

When an old pattern holds you too tightly, it can cloud your view of what is new. Once you stay open to what is different today, your remembering becomes a valuable help for you and for others.

The six lines

Line 1

If your conscious Sun is in Gate 44.1:

Your conscious Sun sits in Gate 44, the Gate of Instinct. In a person or a situation you recognise at once what has played out this way before. Your body knows it before your head does. You want to know your instinct from the ground up before you lean on it. A second-hand account rarely satisfies you, you go back yourself to the layer everything else rests on. Until that layer is clear, whatever stands on top of it feels borrowed to you. This is not caution, it is how you come to trust anything at all. The other side shows when old patterns only warn you or when you turn your feel against other people. The question here is whether the worry belongs to today or to back then. Security comes to you from what you have understood, not from what you have been promised. What you once worked through to the bottom still holds when things around you get unsettled. That is where your calm comes from. When you use your feel for everyone around you, you become a guide people can rely on. Your impulse for daily life: Today you pick one place where your instinct still rests on an assumption and follow it one layer deeper. Working slowly is no delay for you, it is how ground appears under your feet. In the evening you note in one sentence what you now actually understand. The rest can wait for another day.

Line 2

If your conscious Sun is in Gate 44.2:

Your conscious Sun sits in Gate 44, the Gate of Instinct. In a person or a situation you recognise at once what has played out this way before. Your body knows it before your head does. Your instinct comes to you without a run-up and without intention. You often notice only from the reactions of other people that something was unusual which felt entirely ordinary to you. Because it costs you so little, you tend to undervalue it. What comes easily is still worth something. In your case it is worth a great deal. The other side shows when old patterns only warn you or when you turn your feel against other people. The question here is whether the worry belongs to today or to back then. In between you need time in which nobody wants anything from you. What others read into you rarely matches what you find in yourself. The gap between the two is where most of your tiredness comes from. When you use your feel for everyone around you, you become a guide people can rely on. Your impulse for daily life: Today you watch for when a call from outside actually means your instinct and when it only carries what someone else expects of you. You let the first call wait an hour before you answer. A no to the wrong request keeps your energy free for the right one. Nobody is owed your immediate yes.

Line 3

If your conscious Sun is in Gate 44.3:

Your conscious Sun sits in Gate 44, the Gate of Instinct. In a person or a situation you recognise at once what has played out this way before. Your body knows it before your head does. You find out nothing about your instinct without having tried it. What convinces you on paper you would rather test early against the resistance of reality than late. Other people sometimes see disorder in this. What looks like detour from outside is the only road on which your kind of knowledge is made. The other side shows when old patterns only warn you or when you turn your feel against other people. The question here is whether the worry belongs to today or to back then. Your path rarely runs straight. An attempt that does not work takes nothing from you, it cuts off a possibility you would otherwise have carried around for years. Every closed door narrows the field in a useful way. When you use your feel for everyone around you, you become a guide people can rely on. Your impulse for daily life: Today you run one small experiment with your instinct whose outcome you do not know. Afterwards you look less at the result than at what you now know and did not know before. A small failure costs little. An untested assumption can cost you years.

Line 4

If your conscious Sun is in Gate 44.4:

Your conscious Sun sits in Gate 44, the Gate of Instinct. In a person or a situation you recognise at once what has played out this way before. Your body knows it before your head does. Your instinct works through the people who already know you. With strangers you need a run-up, inside a trusted circle the essential part almost falls into place by itself. A room full of unknown faces costs you more than an hour with three people who have known you for years. That is not shyness, it is where your ground lies. The other side shows when old patterns only warn you or when you turn your feel against other people. The question here is whether the worry belongs to today or to back then. A circle that carries you grows out of reliability rather than numbers. You give first and receive later, often from a side you had not counted on. Keeping the circle in good repair is itself part of your work. When you use your feel for everyone around you, you become a guide people can rely on. Your impulse for daily life: Today you turn to one person in your circle and tell them what you are working on. You ask for no favour, you simply share your instinct with someone you trust. An opening comes more often from that telling than from any effort made alone. Let the conversation be the point.

Line 5

If your conscious Sun is in Gate 44.5:

Your conscious Sun sits in Gate 44, the Gate of Instinct. In a person or a situation you recognise at once what has played out this way before. Your body knows it before your head does. People expect a solution from you as soon as your instinct becomes visible. Part of that expectation fits you exactly, another part belongs to a picture someone has put up in front of you. Telling the two apart is the work of your life. Nobody else can do it for you, because from outside the two look identical. The other side shows when old patterns only warn you or when you turn your feel against other people. The question here is whether the worry belongs to today or to back then. Between rescuer and disappointment there is only one step for you. The difference is decided beforehand, in the moment you agree or let it pass. Saying less than you could is often the safer trade. When you use your feel for everyone around you, you become a guide people can rely on. Your impulse for daily life: Today you check one request to see whether it really means your instinct or a picture somebody holds of you. You agree where you can deliver and you say openly where the expectation reaches beyond you. A clearly drawn line protects your standing better than any promise. Vagueness is what costs you later.

Line 6

If your conscious Sun is in Gate 44.6:

Your conscious Sun sits in Gate 44, the Gate of Instinct. In a person or a situation you recognise at once what has played out this way before. Your body knows it before your head does. Your instinct changes shape in you over the years. First comes a long stretch of experience, then a distance in which things sort themselves and finally a calm that others come to you for. Each stretch has its own kind of work. Treating one of them as though it were another is where most of the strain comes from. The other side shows when old patterns only warn you or when you turn your feel against other people. The question here is whether the worry belongs to today or to back then. What you live counts for more with you than what you say. Your standing grows not from intent but from the fact that you walked through what you speak about. People sense the difference without being able to name it. When you use your feel for everyone around you, you become a guide people can rely on. Your impulse for daily life: Today you ask which stretch you are standing in and treat it accordingly. In the middle of experience you gather without drawing conclusions yet. At a distance you sort things out and where you have long since come through, you pass your instinct on quietly. No stretch is wasted time.

Incarnation crosses with Gate 44 as Sun gate

Right Angle Cross of the Four Ways

Out in front works a body that reads people. After one handshake you know more than you would like. Behind it a mind that turns a thought until it becomes simple. Underneath a need for withdrawal and a fine ear for what somebody needs right now. What comes of it is a feel for who belongs where.

When you meet somebody for the first time, within seconds you sense whether it fits. When you override that feeling, time usually proves you right and you are annoyed twice over. And when you say it before anybody asks, it comes across as harsh.

The right angle means this unfolds out of your own path. Others walk through your picture, they did not make it. If none of this fits, it is the picture that is off and not you.

Juxtaposition Cross of Alertness

A body that reads before the mind judges. Add a thinking in rounds, a role that others read and an ear where stories stay. Out of that comes an alertness that cannot be switched off. You notice things nobody said and that nobody asked you to notice.

When you enter a room, you know at once who is currently not speaking to whom. When you bring it up, you act as if you had guessed. And when you try to notice nothing, the evening becomes hard work.

Juxtaposition means this alertness is fixed. It cannot be dampened, it can only be sorted. If you do not recognise yourself here, that says something about the picture and nothing about you.

Left Angle Cross of Incarnation

A reading of people, a thinking in rounds, a role with bearing and a wide ear. For you alone little of it is noticeable. Among people it becomes an arriving: you take the position that is open, often before anybody notices it is missing.

When you join a new group, within two weeks you have a job nobody advertised. When you leave that position, the group only then notices what you were carrying. And when somebody pushes you into the wrong role, you get tired without knowing why.

The left angle means this theme comes about at other people. Alone there would be no position to take. If none of this fits, it is the picture that is off and not you.

And what does this mean for you?
