Ego Authority in Human Design: how you decide
You decide well when you say plainly what you want and what it is worth to you. Promise out of politeness and you will not keep it.
Where this comes from
Human Design: the inner authority is the place that carries a decision for you. Which one it is depends on which centres in your chart are defined; there is a fixed order for that.

Ego Authority, Heart/Ego Center
The Essence: Your truth lies in the strength of your will and your commitments. The Ego Center is the seat of willpower, self-worth, and the material world. Your decisions are correct when you can say from the deepest conviction: “This is worth it to me. I am willing to invest my willpower in this.” It is not a mental cost-benefit analysis but a deep physical knowing of what you are prepared to stand behind.
The Shadow: The ego can drive you into promises you cannot keep. You say yes because you want to prove that you are strong enough, not because it truly aligns with your truth. This shadow leads to exhaustion, because the Ego Center is a motor that needs rest. Constant exertion without recovery burns out your willpower.
Cosmic Advice: Before every major decision, ask yourself: “Do I truly have the willpower for this? Is it worth it to me?” If the answer is an honest, clear yes, then give everything. But respect your limits too. Your Ego Center works in cycles, intense phases of engagement followed by phases of rest. Only when you honor this rhythm does your willpower remain an inexhaustible source.
