Gate 55 in Human Design

Your moods change and colour how you experience the world. You often feel fullness and emptiness in quick succession, without much having changed outside. Your need is to feel taken seriously in all your moods.

Gate 55 is connected with the theme of acknowledging personal experience in Human Design.

When you only let the bright phases count, the dark ones weigh all the more. Once every mood may be there, you see how a beauty and depth of its own shows in each.

The six lines

Line 1

If your conscious Sun is in Gate 55.1:

Your conscious Sun sits in Gate 55, the Gate of Moods. Your feeling reaches from fullness to emptiness without any cause needing to lie in between. That range belongs to you and is no fault in the build. You want to know your mood from the ground up before you lean on it. A second-hand account rarely satisfies you, you go back yourself to the layer everything else rests on. Until that layer is clear, whatever stands on top of it feels borrowed to you. This is not caution, it is how you come to trust anything at all. It gets restless when you try to explain your mood or follow it as though it were an order. A day of distance shows whether a decision really carries. Security comes to you from what you have understood, not from what you have been promised. What you once worked through to the bottom still holds when things around you get unsettled. That is where your calm comes from. When you take the whole span as yours, you find a fullness that has nothing to do with possessions. Your impulse for daily life: Today you pick one place where your mood still rests on an assumption and follow it one layer deeper. Working slowly is no delay for you, it is how ground appears under your feet. In the evening you note in one sentence what you now actually understand. The rest can wait for another day.

Line 2

If your conscious Sun is in Gate 55.2:

Your conscious Sun sits in Gate 55, the Gate of Moods. Your feeling reaches from fullness to emptiness without any cause needing to lie in between. That range belongs to you and is no fault in the build. Your mood comes to you without a run-up and without intention. You often notice only from the reactions of other people that something was unusual which felt entirely ordinary to you. Because it costs you so little, you tend to undervalue it. What comes easily is still worth something. In your case it is worth a great deal. It gets restless when you try to explain your mood or follow it as though it were an order. A day of distance shows whether a decision really carries. In between you need time in which nobody wants anything from you. What others read into you rarely matches what you find in yourself. The gap between the two is where most of your tiredness comes from. When you take the whole span as yours, you find a fullness that has nothing to do with possessions. Your impulse for daily life: Today you watch for when a call from outside actually means your mood and when it only carries what someone else expects of you. You let the first call wait an hour before you answer. A no to the wrong request keeps your energy free for the right one. Nobody is owed your immediate yes.

Line 3

If your conscious Sun is in Gate 55.3:

Your conscious Sun sits in Gate 55, the Gate of Moods. Your feeling reaches from fullness to emptiness without any cause needing to lie in between. That range belongs to you and is no fault in the build. You find out nothing about your mood without having tried it. What convinces you on paper you would rather test early against the resistance of reality than late. Other people sometimes see disorder in this. What looks like detour from outside is the only road on which your kind of knowledge is made. It gets restless when you try to explain your mood or follow it as though it were an order. A day of distance shows whether a decision really carries. Your path rarely runs straight. An attempt that does not work takes nothing from you, it cuts off a possibility you would otherwise have carried around for years. Every closed door narrows the field in a useful way. When you take the whole span as yours, you find a fullness that has nothing to do with possessions. Your impulse for daily life: Today you run one small experiment with your mood whose outcome you do not know. Afterwards you look less at the result than at what you now know and did not know before. A small failure costs little. An untested assumption can cost you years.

Line 4

If your conscious Sun is in Gate 55.4:

Your conscious Sun sits in Gate 55, the Gate of Moods. Your feeling reaches from fullness to emptiness without any cause needing to lie in between. That range belongs to you and is no fault in the build. Your mood works through the people who already know you. With strangers you need a run-up, inside a trusted circle the essential part almost falls into place by itself. A room full of unknown faces costs you more than an hour with three people who have known you for years. That is not shyness, it is where your ground lies. It gets restless when you try to explain your mood or follow it as though it were an order. A day of distance shows whether a decision really carries. A circle that carries you grows out of reliability rather than numbers. You give first and receive later, often from a side you had not counted on. Keeping the circle in good repair is itself part of your work. When you take the whole span as yours, you find a fullness that has nothing to do with possessions. Your impulse for daily life: Today you turn to one person in your circle and tell them what you are working on. You ask for no favour, you simply share your mood with someone you trust. An opening comes more often from that telling than from any effort made alone. Let the conversation be the point.

Line 5

If your conscious Sun is in Gate 55.5:

Your conscious Sun sits in Gate 55, the Gate of Moods. Your feeling reaches from fullness to emptiness without any cause needing to lie in between. That range belongs to you and is no fault in the build. People expect a solution from you as soon as your mood becomes visible. Part of that expectation fits you exactly, another part belongs to a picture someone has put up in front of you. Telling the two apart is the work of your life. Nobody else can do it for you, because from outside the two look identical. It gets restless when you try to explain your mood or follow it as though it were an order. A day of distance shows whether a decision really carries. Between rescuer and disappointment there is only one step for you. The difference is decided beforehand, in the moment you agree or let it pass. Saying less than you could is often the safer trade. When you take the whole span as yours, you find a fullness that has nothing to do with possessions. Your impulse for daily life: Today you check one request to see whether it really means your mood or a picture somebody holds of you. You agree where you can deliver and you say openly where the expectation reaches beyond you. A clearly drawn line protects your standing better than any promise. Vagueness is what costs you later.

Line 6

If your conscious Sun is in Gate 55.6:

Your conscious Sun sits in Gate 55, the Gate of Moods. Your feeling reaches from fullness to emptiness without any cause needing to lie in between. That range belongs to you and is no fault in the build. Your mood changes shape in you over the years. First comes a long stretch of experience, then a distance in which things sort themselves and finally a calm that others come to you for. Each stretch has its own kind of work. Treating one of them as though it were another is where most of the strain comes from. It gets restless when you try to explain your mood or follow it as though it were an order. A day of distance shows whether a decision really carries. What you live counts for more with you than what you say. Your standing grows not from intent but from the fact that you walked through what you speak about. People sense the difference without being able to name it. When you take the whole span as yours, you find a fullness that has nothing to do with possessions. Your impulse for daily life: Today you ask which stretch you are standing in and treat it accordingly. In the middle of experience you gather without drawing conclusions yet. At a distance you sort things out and where you have long since come through, you pass your mood on quietly. No stretch is wasted time.

Incarnation crosses with Gate 55 as Sun gate

Right Angle Cross of the Sleeping Phoenix

Right at the top a temperament swings between fullness and emptiness. It follows no occasion, it follows its own course. Behind it the ability to let a wall between two people drop. Underneath a force that needs no push from outside and an awake present. What comes of it is someone whose days are very different although nothing has changed on the outside.

When you wake up in the morning, you know in the first minute what kind of day it will be. When you decide something important during the emptiness, you see it differently later. And when you are in the fullness, you trust yourself with things you take for impossible in the emptiness.

The right angle means this change comes out of you. Others get to see it, they did not cause it. If you do not recognise yourself here, that says something about the picture and nothing about you.

Juxtaposition Cross of Moods

A temperament that swings. Add a breaking open of barriers, a pull towards detail and an appetite for trying things. Together that makes a tone that cannot be set. Your mood is not a comment on your life, it is closer to weather and it passes through. Once you know that, you argue with yourself less.

When you have an empty day, no amount of talking helps. When you wait, it is over by the evening or the next morning. And when you promise something out of a full day, you keep it in an empty one only with effort.

Juxtaposition means this change is fixed. It cannot be worked away, it can only be known. If you do not recognise yourself here, that says something about the picture and nothing about you.

Left Angle Cross of Spirit

A swinging temperament, a letting go of barriers, an eye for detail and the pleasure in trying things. For you alone that would be an up and down. Among people it turns into what others call atmosphere: how you are colours the room you walk into.

When you come into company in good spirits, the whole evening gets lighter. When you are empty and go anyway, everybody notices although you said nothing. And when somebody asks what is wrong, you often have no reason to give.

The left angle means this theme becomes visible at other people. Alone it would simply be your day. If you do not recognise yourself here, that says something about the picture and nothing about you.

And what does this mean for you?
