Gate 11 in Human Design

Images and ideas pass through your mind that do not yet belong to any purpose. This gathering gives you breadth and lets the world seem richer. The need behind it is to have room for possibilities that are not yet decided.

Gate 11 is connected with the theme of gathering ideas in Human Design.

When every idea is tested for its use straight away, your thinking loses colour. If an idea may simply stay with you for a while, it often shows you later by itself where it belongs.

The six lines

Line 1

If your conscious Sun is in Gate 11.1:

Your conscious Sun sits in Gate 11, the Gate of Ideas. Images and possibilities arrive in you faster than you can check them. Not every one of them wants to be carried out, some only want to be thought and passed on. You want to know your flow of ideas from the ground up before you lean on it. A second-hand account rarely satisfies you, you go back yourself to the layer everything else rests on. Until that layer is clear, whatever stands on top of it feels borrowed to you. This is not caution, it is how you come to trust anything at all. It gets tight when you take every idea for an assignment or grow impatient because nobody sees it. It helps to write one of them down and let it rest. Security comes to you from what you have understood, not from what you have been promised. What you once worked through to the bottom still holds when things around you get unsettled. That is where your calm comes from. When you pass an idea on to someone who is open to it, it often travels further than you do. Your impulse for daily life: Today you pick one place where your flow of ideas still rests on an assumption and follow it one layer deeper. Working slowly is no delay for you, it is how ground appears under your feet. In the evening you note in one sentence what you now actually understand. The rest can wait for another day.

Line 2

If your conscious Sun is in Gate 11.2:

Your conscious Sun sits in Gate 11, the Gate of Ideas. Images and possibilities arrive in you faster than you can check them. Not every one of them wants to be carried out, some only want to be thought and passed on. Your flow of ideas comes to you without a run-up and without intention. You often notice only from the reactions of other people that something was unusual which felt entirely ordinary to you. Because it costs you so little, you tend to undervalue it. What comes easily is still worth something. In your case it is worth a great deal. It gets tight when you take every idea for an assignment or grow impatient because nobody sees it. It helps to write one of them down and let it rest. In between you need time in which nobody wants anything from you. What others read into you rarely matches what you find in yourself. The gap between the two is where most of your tiredness comes from. When you pass an idea on to someone who is open to it, it often travels further than you do. Your impulse for daily life: Today you watch for when a call from outside actually means your flow of ideas and when it only carries what someone else expects of you. You let the first call wait an hour before you answer. A no to the wrong request keeps your energy free for the right one. Nobody is owed your immediate yes.

Line 3

If your conscious Sun is in Gate 11.3:

Your conscious Sun sits in Gate 11, the Gate of Ideas. Images and possibilities arrive in you faster than you can check them. Not every one of them wants to be carried out, some only want to be thought and passed on. You find out nothing about your flow of ideas without having tried it. What convinces you on paper you would rather test early against the resistance of reality than late. Other people sometimes see disorder in this. What looks like detour from outside is the only road on which your kind of knowledge is made. It gets tight when you take every idea for an assignment or grow impatient because nobody sees it. It helps to write one of them down and let it rest. Your path rarely runs straight. An attempt that does not work takes nothing from you, it cuts off a possibility you would otherwise have carried around for years. Every closed door narrows the field in a useful way. When you pass an idea on to someone who is open to it, it often travels further than you do. Your impulse for daily life: Today you run one small experiment with your flow of ideas whose outcome you do not know. Afterwards you look less at the result than at what you now know and did not know before. A small failure costs little. An untested assumption can cost you years.

Line 4

If your conscious Sun is in Gate 11.4:

Your conscious Sun sits in Gate 11, the Gate of Ideas. Images and possibilities arrive in you faster than you can check them. Not every one of them wants to be carried out, some only want to be thought and passed on. Your flow of ideas works through the people who already know you. With strangers you need a run-up, inside a trusted circle the essential part almost falls into place by itself. A room full of unknown faces costs you more than an hour with three people who have known you for years. That is not shyness, it is where your ground lies. It gets tight when you take every idea for an assignment or grow impatient because nobody sees it. It helps to write one of them down and let it rest. A circle that carries you grows out of reliability rather than numbers. You give first and receive later, often from a side you had not counted on. Keeping the circle in good repair is itself part of your work. When you pass an idea on to someone who is open to it, it often travels further than you do. Your impulse for daily life: Today you turn to one person in your circle and tell them what you are working on. You ask for no favour, you simply share your flow of ideas with someone you trust. An opening comes more often from that telling than from any effort made alone. Let the conversation be the point.

Line 5

If your conscious Sun is in Gate 11.5:

Your conscious Sun sits in Gate 11, the Gate of Ideas. Images and possibilities arrive in you faster than you can check them. Not every one of them wants to be carried out, some only want to be thought and passed on. People expect a solution from you as soon as your flow of ideas becomes visible. Part of that expectation fits you exactly, another part belongs to a picture someone has put up in front of you. Telling the two apart is the work of your life. Nobody else can do it for you, because from outside the two look identical. It gets tight when you take every idea for an assignment or grow impatient because nobody sees it. It helps to write one of them down and let it rest. Between rescuer and disappointment there is only one step for you. The difference is decided beforehand, in the moment you agree or let it pass. Saying less than you could is often the safer trade. When you pass an idea on to someone who is open to it, it often travels further than you do. Your impulse for daily life: Today you check one request to see whether it really means your flow of ideas or a picture somebody holds of you. You agree where you can deliver and you say openly where the expectation reaches beyond you. A clearly drawn line protects your standing better than any promise. Vagueness is what costs you later.

Line 6

If your conscious Sun is in Gate 11.6:

Your conscious Sun sits in Gate 11, the Gate of Ideas. Images and possibilities arrive in you faster than you can check them. Not every one of them wants to be carried out, some only want to be thought and passed on. Your flow of ideas changes shape in you over the years. First comes a long stretch of experience, then a distance in which things sort themselves and finally a calm that others come to you for. Each stretch has its own kind of work. Treating one of them as though it were another is where most of the strain comes from. It gets tight when you take every idea for an assignment or grow impatient because nobody sees it. It helps to write one of them down and let it rest. What you live counts for more with you than what you say. Your standing grows not from intent but from the fact that you walked through what you speak about. People sense the difference without being able to name it. When you pass an idea on to someone who is open to it, it often travels further than you do. Your impulse for daily life: Today you ask which stretch you are standing in and treat it accordingly. In the middle of experience you gather without drawing conclusions yet. At a distance you sort things out and where you have long since come through, you pass your flow of ideas on quietly. No stretch is wasted time.

Incarnation crosses with Gate 11 as Sun gate

Right Angle Cross of Eden

At the very top something keeps filling with inner images. Ideas arrive whether you need them or not. Underneath sits a voice that waits for its moment, a border drawn by feel and a wave that condenses everything. Together they make a life in which ideas and feelings run on the same beat.

When you have a picture in your head, you want to pass it on at once. In the wrong moment it falls to the floor. When you wait until someone reaches for it, the same picture suddenly looks large. And when you speak in the middle of the surge, it turns into a reproach.

The right angle means these images come from you. Others collect them, they did not make them. If none of this fits, it is the picture that is off and not you.

Juxtaposition Cross of Ideas

A stream of inner images, plus a voice that waits for its moment. Underneath a friendship with your own body and an affection that demands nothing. Out of it comes a flow of ideas that does not stop, whether you need it or not.

When you go for a walk, more occurs to you than at a desk. When you try to have ideas to order, it stays empty. And when you give an idea away instead of keeping it, it often comes back in better shape. The flow does not run dry from giving.

Juxtaposition means this flow is fixed. It cannot be throttled when quiet would suit better. If you do not recognise yourself here, that says something about the picture and nothing about you.

Left Angle Cross of Education

Inner images, a voice with a sense of timing, a body that speaks along and an affection without conditions. Alone that is a quiet collecting. In front of others it becomes a passing on that does not want to instruct and teaches anyway. It runs through pictures and through your own detours.

When someone asks you for advice, you would rather tell a picture than a rule. When you lecture, people stop listening. And when you wait until somebody asks on their own, the sentence sticks. You cannot force that, you can wait for it.

The left angle means this theme comes about in the encounter. Without someone listening there is nothing to pass on. If none of this fits, it is the picture that is off and not you.

And what does this mean for you?
