Finding Your Birth Time in Switzerland: A Practical Guide
Time-dependent analyses benefit from a reliable birth time. If the birth was registered in Switzerland, the responsible civil register office is a useful first contact. Ask specifically about the recorded time and the appropriate document.
Where is my birth time registered in Switzerland?
For a Swiss birth certificate, the office that registered the birth is generally responsible. Look for the civil register office of the birthplace and check its current contact details. For births abroad, clarify the appropriate route with the responsible authority rather than assuming it follows the current address.
How do I request my birth time from the civil registry office?
Describe the request specifically: you are looking for the documented time of your own birth. Before ordering, ask which document includes the time, what identity evidence is required and how to submit the request securely. Requests about another person are subject to the requirements of the responsible authority.
What does it cost and how long does it take?
Check fees, postage and processing time directly with the responsible office. A general price or delivery promise would not reliably describe your specific request. Before ordering, confirm that the requested document includes the time you need.
What are the alternatives?
Before a paid request, existing records may help: a baby album, birth announcement or documents from the birth clinic. Relatives may provide a clue. Note whether the time is documented or remembered. A clinic can be asked whether a suitable record is still available.
What if the birth time cannot be found anywhere?
Explicitly mark an unknown birth time as unknown. Begin with the analyses available without a time, such as numerological numbers. An invented noon time does not make the Ascendant, houses or HD features reliable. Time-dependent analyses can be added once a documented time is available.
